Lil' Orphan Scrappy

Good Morning Everyone,
My sister Gail and I are in quilting nirvana right now.  We are at the cabin for four, yes four whole days of nothing but quilting.  Mr. Joe escapes to his woodworking shop for some peace and quiet.  Wait a minute, does that mean we are louder than his power tools?

Anyway, Gail is working on table runners. Here is a block that we called Lil' Orphan Scrappy.  It's a good use of scraps and so much fun pulling the block together.  Note the plaid!

Once she had her hourglass units together, she experimented with their placement.  From this.....

.....to this.

Here's her second block.

I'm going to work on the appliqued center for October Magic today.  Yesterday I finished all of my little blocks that surround the center.  Each and every block is unique.  It gives me a chance to incorporate more little gems of fabric.  A touch of lavender, pink, teal, lime green and orange makes the border pop.

This is double Quilting Nirvana because it is snowing. Snow in April....snow on the daffodils....odd weather for California. We are snug little bugs, with a roaring fire and the hum of sewing machines hard at work. Life is good.

Don't forget that this Saturday is the Christmas Quilt Along.  Gail and I will be posting periodically through the whole day.  Stop by and see what we are doing.  Lesley from Cuddle Quilter is going to be our hostess.  She will have the next installment of the Festive Mystery quilt ready for you. It should be a fun day of quilting, blogging, and blog hopping to see what everyone is working on for Christmas.  With our snow, we won't have to pretend that it is December!

As always,

Lynn and Gail

  3. Sounds like a perfect few days. Don't forget to wrap up warm for the Christmas QAL as Lesley says it's going to be quite cold weather tomorrow over at hers.
