Smoky Update

Hello Everyone,

Thank you all so much for your heartfelt outpouring in your comments.  You have no idea how much I appreciate your concern.

I pulled this picture off the web this morning which was taken from a vantage point about 15 minutes from our cabin.

This picture is the burn footprint from Saturday.  The fire is traveling southeast and has now burned over 100 square miles.

This is from Thursday/Friday.

It is my understanding from what I'm reading at different sites, that bulldozers are frantically making fire breaks around our little community.  This is no small task since the terrain is covered in huge pine tress and is very steep in most locations.

We are still remaining out of harms way and not venturing near the cabin to remove anything.  Roads are closing, and the smoke is chocking.  I read one account describing Arnold as a smoky ghost town.  Now about those looters.....they should be "fat quartered".

Soon,
Lynn

  1. Oh dear. Pray for the firefighters to continue to be safe in their fight, if only the clouds would come over and finally give you rain. As for the looters...may they encounter a stealthy cougar!

  4. Praying for those who are giving it their all to contain the fire and protect the towns in the path of the fire. And you, Lynn, can still manage to bring a piece of humor into the worse situation! I'd like to help you graph just how those fat quarters are to be drawn! Sending love & hugs....

  5. Thanks for the update, Lynn. I can't imagine seeing that line of flames coming over any hill - especially toward a populated area! I'm glad you're not trying to rescue any of your quilts up there. They can be replaced by you as long as you stay out of harms way! Thank goodness for the firefighters and structure protection - no amount of medals or praise can begin to thank them for what they do! We're praying for El Nino to hurry on up there!
    Take care!

  7. Still in our prayers. Although difficult, keep the faith that all will be fine.

  10. I hope your cabin stays safe!! Up here we're under the smoke from the Valley fire up in Lake County. Paul went up to the north end of our valley and said he can see the glow from the fire over the hills. I feel so bad for the people up there who had to be evacuated so quickly that they just got our with the clothes on their backs!! I hope the cool weather comes quickly and that it brings rain!! Stay safe my friend!! Hugs, H

  11. Horrible - hope they can get this contained soon. I can't believe that people take advantage of this situation and loot - what kind of a person does something like this? Seriously...get a job!!!!
