Manteca Quilt Guild Lecture and Workshop

Hello Everyone,

Happy Halloween!  This little guy decorated the table at the Manteca Guild meeting last Thursday night where I was the feature speaker.

The quilters started gathering early for their monthly meeting at the Manteca Library.

Here are some of my buddies who came to hear me speak.  It's always great to have friends in the audience who smile throughout the talk.

After my talk and lots of hearty laughter from the audience, the show and tell began.  This is a very prolific and creative guild!

Terry made this banner for her sewing room.  These are sayings that we hear and use all of the time.  My favorite is, "Do What You Enjoy".

Saturday morning we met again in the Library for my full Patchwork Math class.

I can hear Sandra's wheels turning while she contemplates her design.

Gail is my floater around the room and provides assistance wherever it is needed.

Many thanks to the members of the Manteca Quilt Guild.  You made Gail and me very welcome, and we enjoyed our time we spent with you.

Tomorrow I'm off to Cloth and Quilts in Turlock to teach For The Love of Baskets.  This is the perfect quilt to use up some of your scraps.  Every basket is unique and fun to make.

Happy Halloween!
Lynn

Sew'n Wild Oaks Class Was In Session

Hello Everyone,

It was beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the classroom at In Between Stitches on Tuesday. Many of the girls are working on their Christmas projects.  Little Checkerberry is saying hello to you this morning. He is going to be the cutest pillow in Kathy's house this year.

Kristi is making a Kim Diehl wall hanging.  This one can be used throughout the entire year as far as I'm concerned.  I love the touch of the wool leaves.

Kristi is also making this wall hanging.  So cute and different.

Irene is making the stars for her table runner.  Great precision.

Kathy finished her Snow Globes quilt.  What can I say.......another heirloom by Kathy.  It is incredibly beautiful.

She "inked" her design and it is all embroidered by hand.

More Lucy's in the room.

Ann has her Madrigal top ready for her long arm.  She marked the scalloped borders in class.

Ann is also working on her blocks for The House on Edgewood Lane.  I love the fabric selection.

Marti is almost finished with the center applique for Chelsea Cottage, a Blackbird Design.

I was a bit under the weather with the start of a sore throat, so I just sat and worked on one of my projects and didn't say much for most of the day. (I know what you are thinking.....it is hard for me not to talk!)

I'm speaking at the Manteca Quilt Guild meeting tonight, so I wanted to save my voice.  I've been sucking on lozenges for the last couple days and actually feel that my voice is going to make it through the evening guild meeting.

According to Mr. Joe, my sore throat is caused by excessive snoring.  One of these days I'm afraid he is going to record it and play it back for me over the breakfast table.  I don't snore....period!  But, he has been enjoying my new raspy, husky, Lauren Bacall voice.

Soon,
Lynn

All Good Things............

Hello Everyone,

To cap off Quilt Sue's visit to California was our trip to Yosemite last Friday.  You can see from the photos that it was a picture perfect day.

First stop was Inspiration Point. The breeze gave Gail, Sue and me a new hair design.

Second stop was our favorite picnic spot at the base of El Capitan along the Merced River.

The Fall colors and the blue sky combined for a beautiful day.

We love this picnic spot because there usually aren't many people here.  Even Yosemite isn't immune to our bark beetle plague, and we saw many dead trees on the valley floor.

This was the warning on our picnic table.  We covered it up with a quilt so Sue wouldn't be afraid and could eat her lunch without worrying about bears.

Our next stop was a walk across the valley floor to Yosemite Falls.  Luckily it rained the weekend before so there was a little bit of water in the falls.

As the light faded to late afternoon, we took this picture of Sue with Half Dome in the background.

There is beauty and grandeur in every direction.

One final picture of Sue and me with El Capitan in the background.

Then a quiet drive back to the cabin while our thoughts reflected on our amazing trip to Yosemite and the time we spent together.

Yesterday was bittersweet.  It was time for Sue to head back across the pond to her home and family. Our entire family loves Sue.

It's lonely here at the kitchen table without you and your sense of humor.  Mazey is curled up at my feet wondering where you are and I keep hearing an occasional whine. Now that your visit has come to an end, she has one less person to scratch her behind her ears.  I miss you my friend.

The last toodle pip until your next visit.
